Today marks the 41st anniversary of Real Madrid's Club World Cup triumph in Sao Paulo. On 5 July 1981, the Whites beat the hosts, EC Sirio, 109-83 in the final. This was the finale to an excellent tournament which saw the Madridistas finish undefeated.

Under Lolo Sainz's guidance, Madrid displayed their superiority from the start of the game and went into half-time comfortably ahead of the Brazilian side (54-36). This gap expanded at the end of the game, which saw Delibasic (33 points), Brabender (28) and Rullán (23) excel.
