Valencia Basket respond

Real Madrid tightened up in defence and in attack, they were clinical to reach the maximum of the game: 19-29 after another 2+1 by Bruno Fernando. The home side's first basket of the quarter came from 6.75, scored by Puerto, but Bruno Fernando and then Llull popped up again to bring the score to +9. The home side gradually began to improve their shooting percentage, which brought them to within 6 points: 29-35 with just over three minutes to go. The last minute was breathtaking and the two personals added by Montero brought the score level, but Abalde produced a beautiful layup to give Madrid the lead, although another triple by López-Arostegui put Valencia Basket ahead (40-39).
A spectacular third quarter
The third quarter could not have got off to a better start. The Madridistas opened with a 2+1 from Hezonja, six points from Campazzo, two free throws hit by Hezonja and four consecutive points from Tavares for a 0-15 run: 40-54 and Valencia Basket had not scored for more than three minutes. The hosts recovered and broke their scoring drought in the fourth quarter, but Chus Mateo's men refused to give up any ground, and with two minutes to go, they were up by 12. And at the end of the quarter, they were 11 up (49-60 after a 9-21 run).
The home team got under the 10-point barrier with 8:35 to go (54-62) and with the Whites conceding five fouls in less than two minutes. Valencia Basket took advantage of it to reduce the gap (57-64 with 7:34 to play). From there, it was an exchange of baskets that made the score 63-72 after Hezonja's three-pointer and +10 with Musa's 2+1 (65-75). Chus Mateo's boys kept at it and stepped up their defensive efforts to extend their lead even further: 65-80 with just over two minutes left to play. From then until the end, Real Madrid held on to their lead and were crowned champions of the 38th Liga Endesa for the 38th time at La Fonteta.
