A minute’s silence was held at the Santiago Bernabéu ahead of the league clash between Real Madrid and Alavés in memory of former club players Javier Berasaluce and Carlos Sutter, who passed away this month, and also for another true madridista, Ignacio Laviña. Berasaluce, a goalkeeper who joined the club from Deportivo Alavés, played for the Whites between 1955 and 1960, winning five European Cups, two league titles and one Latin Cup. Sutter was a member of the team in the 1956/57 season, in which he won one European Cup, one league title and one Latin Cup. The Real Madrid players wore black armbands.
