“We lacked a bit of freshness, but I applaud the players for their effort”, said the coach after the game against Baskonia
Pablo Laso analysed Real Madrid’s performance against Baskonia, in the match corresponding to Round 24 of the EuroLeague: “They were superior in many aspects of the game and we lacked pace, energy and that spark. We weren’t able to connect good defensive and offensive situations. Baskonia played a good game, with good percentages, and they really deserved the win.”
“We’ve had a very tough past month and the team has been amazing. The team was a bit under par today and the cycle has been broken. We couldn’t keep it going and probably in the last quarter it seemed like we were running out of steam, and this was against a team that was playing really well. We stayed in the match but the team couldn’t hold on. I’m not concerned. We’ve had a very tough month and today we couldn’t keep up with Baskonia’s pace.”
Team’s physical condition
“Unfortunately, I don’t decide the fixture schedule. We’ve had a few injuries and players leaving and this season we’ve had to ask other players to come in and be at their best. I would be wrong to think that everything is going badly because of today’s game, but we lacked a bit of freshness. However, I applaud the players for their effort.”
“It‘s been a very busy season for the medical team. They are great professionals and we’re not going to force players who are not 100%. We'll see how Rudy is. Tavares' injury doesn’t seem to be serious and Carroll is doing pretty well. I always try to be positive and hope the team is able to move on from this game and think about Sunday’s match.”
