The Captain netted a double on his 100th European appearance with Real Madrid.
Sergio Ramos was the standout man in Real Madrid's victory in Naples, netting a headed double which saw the madridistas through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It came at the Stadio San Paolo on the night of his 100th appearance in European competition with the Whites: "I'm happy because we've achieved our goal, which was to make it through to the next round. It was also my hundredth game in Europe with Real Madrid and what better way to celebrate it than helping the team by getting a couple of goals”.

“It was a precarious game, and we struggled a bit in the first half, which is something we'll have to think about. We were too hasty with the ball, our defensive line was very deep, they were winning the ball back in our half and creating chance after chance. We're pleased to be through, we'll have to reflect on the mistakes we made and now we turn our attentions back to LaLiga”.

A resilient performance
“Last week they were slating me, a month ago, I was fantastic, and just because I've scored a couple of goals tonight, it doesn't mean I'm going to be a hero again. We try and do our job the best we can and today, despite a poor first half, we've shown we can dig in together. In the second half, we tried to pose more of a threat. Things don't always come off exactly as we've worked on them, but as long as you have a good, positive attitude, there's not too much to be upset about”.

Decisive goals
The Andalusian's century of European appearances have come in the Champions League (98) and the UEFA Super Cup (2). What's more, Ramos' goals in these 100 European outings have come at crucial times, such as the double he netted in Munich in the 2013/14 Champions League campaign, as well as his goals in the finals of La Décima and La Undécima, and his strike in last summer's UEFA Super Cup.
