Real Madrid - Nizhny Novgorod

Real Madrid break the Euroleague assists record

NEWS | 31/10/2014

The Whites racked up 33 passes that led to baskets against Nizhny Novgorod.
The matchday three Euroleague game against Nizhny Novgorod finished with a few historical milestones. Real Madrid broke the competition's record for assists by racking up a total of 33. The Whites surpassed the 31 assists recorded by Panathinaikos against Laboral Kutxa in 2013 and by Maccabi against Panathinaikos and Skipper Bolonia in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

The 33 assists were mainly down to three men: Sergio Rodríguez (9), Rudy Fernández (6) and Llull (5). The remainder came from Campazzo (4), Rivers (3), Ayón (2) as well as from Reyes, Carroll, Nocioni and Mejri (1). Madrid's highest tally before Thursday night was 27 assists. That was back in 2013 in a game against Efes.

Carroll recorded the third highest Euroleague valuation by a Real Madrid player (37). He is only behind Lavrinovic (49) and Reyes (38).

But one man stood out above everyone during the Whites' victory: Jaycee Carroll. His 32 points make him Real Madrid's joint top scorer in a single Euroleague game, alongside Darius Lavrinovic, who reached that figure in 2009 against Khimki. Carroll is third in the list with the 31 points he scored against CSKA in 2013.

Three-point record
The American shooting guard's seven three-pointers saw him equal the highest number in the club's history since the Euroleague format changed in 2000, bringing him level with Herreros and Raül López, albeit with a better percentage rate. Carroll converted 7 of his 9 throws, while the two Spaniards scored 7 from 10 attempts. Herreros did so against Efes in 2002 and López preceded him by two years against Ovarense.
