Real Madrid concluded the year 2000 by being voted the Best Club of the 20th Century by FIFA. On the 11th of December of that year Alfredo Di Stéfano and Florentino Pérez collected the accolade at a ceremony in Rome.
Real Madrid won by a wide margin in the ballot, winning 42% of the votes. Manchester United and Bayern Munich were the next clubs in the ranking with 9% of the votes.

The accolade is a recognition of the Whites glorious history and its contribution to the development of football around the world. Real Madrid's trophy cabinet from the 20th century is unparalleled; they won eight European Cups, two UEFA Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, two Latin Cups, 27 La Liga titles, 17 Copa del Reys, five Supercups of Spain and a League Cup.
