The funds raised will go towards the running of the programmes led by the Arsenal Foundation alongside the NGO Save the Children in Iraq, Indonesia, Jordan and Somalia. The friendly between the clubs' veterans could be considered as being the return fixture following on from the Corazón Classic Match 2018 'Football for childhood', which took place on 3 June at the Santiago Bernabéu. Set to feature for the Real Madrid Legends are Xabi Alonso, Seedorf and Morientes, whilst David Seaman, Jérémie Aliadière, Ray Parlour, Bob Wilson and Pat Rice will be amongst those in the Arsenal line-up.
Gallego spoke of the gratitude felt by the Real Madrid Foundation and the Real Madrid Legends after being given the opportunity to be involved in a link-up between the foundations of two of Europe's biggest clubs, who are turning football into a vehicle to support charity causes: "The excitement generated by this game, beyond the on-field passion, comes from being able to help others by doing our favourite thing: enjoying a game of football".
