Bellingham: “We're up against a good team, but we're confident”
“It'll be a tough match because they've got great players,” said Arda Güler.
Bellingham, Arda Güler and Tchouameni spoke to the press ahead of the quarter-final clash with Borussia Dortmund at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (Saturday, 10 pm CEST, 4 pm local time). The Englishman had this to say on the clash: “It'll be a tough match. We're up against a good team, who have good players. We're confident and hopefully we can win. They're a very dynamic team and play at pace. I know a lot of people at Dortmund and I have good memories. I'm very grateful to them for everything and I wish them all the best.”
“I'm expecting a tough game in a different stadium and different playing conditions. They've changed coach and they've improved a lot. We're expecting a good game, we want to dominate and win.”
The Club World Cup
“This season was a bit weak, with only two trophies, and not the ones this team requires. It's a great opportunity to win a major trophy. The weather in Miami was difficult, but I'm enjoying it after a long season. It's a nice experience and sometimes you don't get to spend as much time with your teammates. It's a positive experience.”
How is Diogo Jota's death affecting Trent?
“It's very hard and difficult to process everything. He was his teammate for 5 years and I think he's trying to deal with it in the best way possible. We send lots of affection and love to his family. They need time.”
His brother misses the match through suspension
“He told me he had no idea. It has happened more than once and it's a shame. It would've been very special for our family, but it's part of football and there will be another chance.”
The World Cup
“We're looking forward to the World Cup and we're really enjoying this one. The stadiums and the fans are very good and it's nice to see the stadiums full when Madrid play.”
Arda Güler: “We're really looking forward to it”
“It'll be a tough match because they've got great players, but we've been working hard and I hope we can win. We're really looking forward to it.”
“I like playing in midfield. I'm enjoying it a lot and hopefully we can keep it that way. It doesn't change much for me to have two or three players in front of me, I enjoy playing any way I can.”
What Xabi asks of him
“He wants me to play as a 10, to come into the game, to lead and help the team. I want to keep improving and helping the team.”
Diogo Jota’s death
“We're very sad for him, his brother and his family. So was Trent.”
Tchouameni: “The important thing is to win”
“I try to do the things the coach asks me to do. Every game, we understand more and more what we have to do and we have to continue like this. Against Juve, I started playing in the middle and anything can happen.”
“The most important thing is to play well and it doesn't matter where I play. The most important thing is that I'm on the pitch and I enjoy playing with my teammates. The most important thing is to win the games. We're doing well and the important thing is to win the trophy.”
Differences between coaches
“Carlo was a fantastic coach and we won a lot of trophies with him and he has done incredible things in football. Xabi has won a lot of things in Germany and we're gradually understanding his style of possession and defending all together.”
Diogo Jota
“Sometimes these things happen. We played against him and Trent played with him. That's why it affects us a bit more.”
