Carroll: “We have a big challenge ahead”

"This week is probably the most important of the season", added Thompkins.
Jaycee Carroll and Trey Thompkins appeared in the pavilion at Real Madrid City before traveling to Athens to play the EuroLeague playoff against Panathinaikos. The American guard said: "We’re happy with the work we’ve done in recent games and knowing that we have a big challenge ahead. Everyone tries to contribute and to be ready and we’ve been preparing for two weeks to be right for this moment".

"Panathinaikos are a very difficult opponent, very electrifying and they have a coach that we’ve come up against a lot. We were close to winning in the regular season in Athens. It’ll be difficult but you can beat anyone. We’re coming up against the same side regardless of having home-court advantage or not, we must try to win the first game whether it’s at home or away".

Campazzo injury
"We’ve had a year where we’ve been working well together and he was having a phenomenal year. We feel bad for him. Injuries are the cruelest part of being an athlete, but we have a lot of confidence in Chasson Randle and Luka Doncic and we’ll put someone else in if necessary".

Thompkins: "We expect a battle"
"This week is probably the most important of the season. We have the option to win back home-court advantage and take a big step to reaching the Final Four. It's what we've been fighting for all season and it's exciting for us".

Thompkins: "We're going to Athens confident, knowing what we have to do to win".

"Campazzo is very important for us, he's fast and strong, but I think there are players in the squad that can stand in for him and do his job".

Mentality
"We expect a battle in Greece, we’re going to Athens confident, we know what we have to do to win, play well in defense and attack and, above all, with a lot of energy".

Evenly matched
"There isn’t a favorite, they’re a very tough team, with great players and an aggressive game, and it’s a tight court, but we already have experience in these games and we’re ready".
