‘L’Equipe’ and the rest of the world's press focus on the Whites' Undécima win.
As the final whistle blew, Real Madrid were already on the front pages of the world's major sports newspapers' digital formats as they focussed on the Undécima feat. In Spain, as.com ran the title: “Madrid are indestructible. They won la Undécima on penalties after resisting an Atlético side who were superior for much of the match and in better physical shape”. Marca.com: “The drama of La Undécima. Real Madrid clinch another Champions League against Atlético in an agonizing match decided by penalties”.

The Undécima has also made the covers of the general dailies. El Mundo.es reads: “Penalties favour Real Madrid and la Undécima. Zidane's team clinch the title after an emotional final against an Atlético side who stayed faithful to their defiant ideals”. El País: “Real Madrid win their eleventh Champions League. The Whites seal victory over Atlético in a penalty shootout”.

ABC.es goes with “European Eleven. Madrid clinch la Undécima in another agonizing final. Madrid are eternal, and it can be measured in European Cups. This game secures their legend”. La Razón sums up the final with the phrase: “Agony, pain…and la Undécima. Real Madrid have proclaimed themselves European Champions for the eleventh time by overcoming Atlético Madrid in a penalty shootout (5-3) with the scores tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra-time”.

In France, L’Equipe head their digital edition as follows: “Zidane's Real Madrid, at the pinnacle of Europe after their victory over Atlético. They were crowned European champions for the 11th time in their history following their victory against Atlético Madrid. Zidane makes history, too”. Le Monde: “Zidane's Real Madrid win their Undécima”. Le Journal du Dimanche: “Real Madrid win their Undécima in the Champions League against Atlético”.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Champions. Real Madrid get the better of their city rivals to win la Undécima in the Champions League”. The Whites have also made the news in the English press. The Guardian: “Real Madrid win the Champions League on penalties over Atlético”. BBC.com reads: “Real Madrid were crowned champions of Europe for the 11th time after beating Atletico Madrid in a dramatic penalty shootout in Milan”. The Daily Mail follow a similar line: “Real Madrid clinched their 11th European Cup after Cristiano Ronaldo capitalised on Juanfran's crucial missed spot-kick in an enthralling penalty shootout at the San Siro”. And they laud Bale: “He proves his worth once again on his return to the San Siro”.

The Portuguese paper, A Bola, leads with Cristiano Ronaldo: “He scores the decisive penalty to guarantee la Undécima in the Champions League”. Record also focus on the Portuguese forward: “Cristiano Ronaldo scores the penalty worth a Champions League”. In Germany, Bild is titled “Real Madrid win the Champions League on penalties”.

The Olé newspaper in Argentina also reflects on The Whites' triumph: “On penalties, Real Madrid beat Atlético to claim the Undécima Champions League trophy in their history”. Récord de México leads: “An unforgettable Champions League”. The New York Times opens with: “Real Madrid beat Atlético Madrid on penalties in the Champions League”.
