The Undécima has also made the covers of the general dailies. El Mundo.es reads: “Penalties favour Real Madrid and la Undécima. Zidane's team clinch the title after an emotional final against an Atlético side who stayed faithful to their defiant ideals”. El País: “Real Madrid win their eleventh Champions League. The Whites seal victory over Atlético in a penalty shootout”.
ABC.es goes with “European Eleven. Madrid clinch la Undécima in another agonizing final. Madrid are eternal, and it can be measured in European Cups. This game secures their legend”. La Razón sums up the final with the phrase: “Agony, pain…and la Undécima. Real Madrid have proclaimed themselves European Champions for the eleventh time by overcoming Atlético Madrid in a penalty shootout (5-3) with the scores tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra-time”.
In France, L’Equipe head their digital edition as follows: “Zidane's Real Madrid, at the pinnacle of Europe after their victory over Atlético.
