Walter Tavares was presented by Felipe Reyes, Madrid legend and former teammate, with the trophy for the best defender in the league in the build-up to the game between Real Madrid and Unicaja Malaga. The Cape Verdean centre dedicated the accolade to the fans present at the WiZink Center, who gave him a standing ovation.
Walter Tavares has been named the Liga Endesa’s Best Defender for the third consecutive campaign, beating out Alberto Díaz and Ethan Happ in the voting. The madridista center is the only man to have won the award since it was inaugurated in the 2020-21 season and he is the competition's leading blocker, averaging 2 per game. His top this term are the 5 blocks he posted against Gran Canaria on matchday 15.
