In the 1977/78 campaign, the German scored against Betis, his first league goal for Real Madrid.

This week’s edition of Historic Goals features Uli Stielike. The German midfielder joined Real Madrid from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 1977. He was an energetic player who possessed great quality, showed personality and fine positioning on the pitch.

In the 1977/78 campaign, Real Madrid hosted Betis on matchday 11 on LaLiga. Stielike scored his first league goal for the Whites. The German started the move, played a one-two with Jensen and fired the ball past the on-rushing keeper.

Stielike spent eight seasons at Real Madrid, where he made 308 appearances and netted 50 goals. He also lifted seven trophies: 1 UEFA Cup, 3 LaLiga titles, 2 Copa de España trophies and 1 Copa de la Liga trophy.
