Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid; Iker Casillas, Deputy Director General of the Foundation; and Isidoro San José, a member of the Board of Directors of the Real Madrid Ex-players' Association, acted as representatives of the club at the ceremony to present the proceeds from the charity match against the Tenerife legends. The two veteran teams went head-to-head at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium in December with the aim of raising funds for the people affected by the volcano eruption on La Palma.
During the event, Butragueño said: "Football is an ideal instrument to build bridges between people and we have proven it time and again. Both Tenerife and Real Madrid are trying to contribute towards ensuring that all the citizens of La Palma receive our love and affection. Acts like this help to empower the dreams and hopes of the people who were affected so terribly. It is a pleasure for us to undertake this initiative. Solidarity must be a central element on a daily basis if we are to build a better future". The event was also attended by Miguel Concepción, president of C.D. Tenerife; Mariano Hernández, president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma; and Borja Perdomo, vice-president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, among others.
