NEWS | 18/02/2021The centres in Manique and Guimarães have adapted their activities to enable them to continue catering for the children's needs.
As a result of the period of confinement imposed in Portugal, the participants at the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sporting schools are no longer able to take part in in-person activities. Despite this situation, the Foundation's social partner, the Asociación Alma Branca in Guimarães, with whom the institution has been working since 2015, and the Sportbosco de Manique socio-sporting school, which was opened in 2012, have adapted the training sessions so that they can be done online from the pupils' homes. This ensures that the 300-plus participants maintain their fitness levels and continue to learn about values through sport.
Both schools have sought to ensure that all of the children are able to take part in the online classes and those who needed a computer were provided with one. In addition, the children receive academic support classes and guidance on fun activities to share with the family. The Manique school also offers a monitoring service and psychological support is available to both children and the families so that they feel supported at all times.
