The youth-team graduate made 13 rebounds against Obradoiro, a record that no player had reached as a youth.
Usman Garuba continues to surprise and take advantage of the minutes given to him by Laso. Less than a month after being the youngest player to get a double-double in the ACB (13 points and 10 rebounds against UCAM Murcia), the center has set a new historical record in rebounds, with 13. No youth player had reached that number before.
The youth-team graduate has started in the five league games played. In the last one he was one of the most outstanding players on the team in the victory in Santiago de Compostela by 76-83, which sees the team become sole leaders. Garuba was the player who spent the most minutes on the court (29), time in which he contributed 3 points and 13 rebounds, 6 of them offensive and 7 in defense. At 17, he averages 6.6 rebounds in 20 minutes of play. It’s the second time that he’s made 10 or more rebounds, a milestone unprecedented.
Laso: "He gives us a lot of energy"
“I always say that my players don't surprise me because I see them every day. I know what Garuba is capable of. He is a player who gives us a lot of energy in the game. Apart from the 13 rebounds he has given us a good display in defense and has had a complete game".
