Ramos, 8 goals in his last 9 games for Spain

NEWS | 06/09/2019 | Rodrigo Salamanca

The captain is now the tenth top scorer for the national team and has not missed from the penalty spot for more than a year.
Sergio Ramos continues his spectacular goal-scoring streak with the Spanish national team and showed it again in the latest win against Romania (1-2). The Real Madrid defender got the first goal of the match from the penalty spot to lead his team to victory. Thanks to this goal, Ramos is now among the top ten scorers for Spain, level with Míchel (21). He has now played 166 internationals, only one less than Casillas.

The captain has reached this milestone with the national team after scoring eight goals in his last nine games; a scoring run that began on September 11, 2018 against Croatia. He was also on target in the friendly against Wales and in the Nations League meetings against England and Croatia.

Ramos has scored his last 13 penalties.

The last five games that Spain have played have been in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, where the Sevilla-born defender has scored against Norway, Faroe Islands, Sweden and Romania. The only game he didn’t score in was the visit to Malta in March.

13 goals in a row from the penalty spot
He continues to demonstrate his ability from the penalty spot. Since May 9, 2018, the centre back has scored his last 13 penalties for Real Madrid and Spain. For the Whites, he has converted nine consecutively against Sevilla, Atlético de Madrid (2), Girona (2), Leganés (2), Valladolid and Celta. The other four penalties came for Spain against Croatia, Norway, Sweden and Romania.
