The Whites travel to an Atlético side who are unbeaten at home so far this term in LaLiga (8:45pm CET). 
Real Madrid return to action following the final international break of the calendar year with a fixture that is sure to be earmarked in the diaries of football fans the world over: the first Madrid derby of the campaign (8:45pm CET). Indeed, on this occasion it's also a historic encounter, with this being the sides' first-ever meeting at the Wanda Metropolitano.

With the two teams level on points in the LaLiga standings, the Whites will be aiming to put some ground between themselves and tonight's opponents. One look at the statistics confirms Real Madrid's excellent form on their travels, with the team having found the net in each of their last 35 away games.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the derby's all-time leading goalscorer with 21 goals to his name.

Speaking in the build-up, Zinedine Zidane insisted that "We come into the game in good shape and we'll have to play at full throttle for the full 90 minutes in the derby”. The defending LaLiga champions face an Atlético Madrid side who are unbeaten so far this term at the Wanda Metropolitano. Four teams have visited Atlético's new home and none of them have managed to emerge victorious : Málaga (1-0), Sevilla (2-0), Barcelona (1-1) and Villarreal (1-1).

Defensive solidity
Atlético have been breached on just two occasions at home and, ahead of this round of fixtures, can lay claim to having the division's joint-meanest defence, along with Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Leganés. Ángel Correa, with four goals to his name, currently tops the Rojiblancos' scoring charts.
