Rueda de prensa de Laso

Laso: “A Clásico is always special and even more so with our farewell to Felipe Reyes"

NEWS STORY. 22/01/2022

“We come into the game really hungry, we're going well from a results perspective and we're looking solid”, added Abalde.

Pablo Laso and Alberto Abalde assessed the game against Barcelona on matchday 16 in the Endesa League (Sunday, 6:30pm CET). The madridista coach reflected: “In theory I'll have everyone available except Causeur. Deck is ready too and we won't decide on who will play until the final moment. Rudy and Tavares have been positive but they're back available now. I can't remember the last time I've had everyone available, there have always been set-backs”.

"Every game is special and then if the Clásico has an extra edge to it, this one will be even more special with the farewell to Felipe. He has been a true great for Spanish basketball and Real Madrid. It's a well-deserved tribute for the wonderful career he had at our club and his conduct throughout. I only have good words to say about him and it's an emotional and well-deserved moment. I hope we see a big crowd at the stadium to cheer the team on and pay tribute to Felipe”.

Analysis of Barcelona
“I still see a hugely powerful team with lots of weapons, good shooting from the outside and decisive players below the post. They're good defensively too, they're a very complete side. The schedule is demanding for all sides and we've had players out. The teams they have come up against have had some great games. Results don't necessarily reflect the team's dynamic”.

Deck's return
“He needs game time, but that doesn't mean he won't be involved tomorrow. He's a really important player for us and we need o get him back into the team dynamic as soon as possible, but it doesn't mean he'll necessarily play tomorrow. He knows the coaching staff and the way things are here. That will help bring things forward. He looks in good shape but he needs a spell to adapt again to different demands and a different calendar".
Abalde: “The fans are really excited”
“We come into the game really hungry. It's a game we're all waiting for eagerly and the fans are really excited. We're going well from a results perspective and we're looking solid. Despite that, there's still lots of room for improvement and these games are the challenges we must rise to meet. We're not thinking about the league positions”.

“Barcelona are a very physical team who play with great pace. They defend well and they're aggressive. They have some great players too. We'll have to make out strong points stand out, be solid at the back and on the rebound. Then it'll be about playing at the pace we like”.
