UPS extends its support to the Real Madrid Foundation's wheelchair basketball schools

NEWS STORY. 03/12/2021

The partnership between both organisations was first signed in 2016.

UPS and Real Madrid Foundation announced the renewal of the collaboration agreement for a sixth consecutive season in an event held at the Real Madrid City auditorium. Executive Vice-President of the Foundation, Enrique Sánchez, presided over the event, which was also attended by Elisabeth Rodríguez, General Manager of UPS Spain and Portugal, and Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid.

The partnership between the two entities was first signed in 2016 and has the goal of the sustainability of the social sporting wheelchair basketball schools that the Real Madrid Foundation operates in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Getafe and Madrid to provide for children with physical and mental disabilities who would otherwise not be able to enjoy team sport.

Collaboration
Thanks to this agreement, UPS, a global leader in parcel delivery, also supports the logistics of the Real Madrid Foundation's national and international shipments to more than 650 social and sports schools, projects and programmes in 80 countries.

Emilio Butragueño expressed his gratitude for UPS's support and emphasised "the importance of collaboration along both lines, in terms of facilitating access to sport for these children, as well as providing logistical support, which is so important to ensure that other children around the world can also take part in sporting activities with the Foundation". Elisabeth Rodriguez highlighted: "At UPS, we not only move the world to deliver what matters, but we also care for the communities in which we work and live. For this reason, we want to help create a more inclusive and accessible world for these children alongside the Real Madrid Foundation".

Volunteering
The collaboration of UPS also encompasses the involvement of the logistics company's corporate volunteers in the development of social and sports projects, particularly in these wheelchair basketball schools.
