EReal Madrid got the better of Deportivo Abanca on their visit to the Ciudad Deportiva Abegondo to clinch their 16th win of the Primera Iberdrola campaign. David Aznar's team opened the scoring with a gorgeous back-heel byMarta Cardona on 52’. Shortly before the end of the game, Jakobsson made it 0-2 to secure all three points. The win sees the madridistas remain in third place in the table having won four of their five games in March.

The clash against the Galician side began with Marta Corredera crafting out the first chance when her shot from range flew over the bar. Deportivo responded swiftly when Gaby crossed for Alba but she also failed to keep her effort down. The hosts continued to put the pressure on and pounced on a loose pass for Maite to force Misa into a fine save. Soon after, Jakobsson tried her luck with a shot from a tight angle that ended up in the side-netting. Madrid refused to let the intensity drop and continued to enjoy several chances to open the scoring prior to the break: Jessica Martinez forced Sullastres into a good stop from a Robles cross; Ivana's free-kick shot inches over the bar; while Kaci and Corredera both tested the hosts' goalkeeper.

Cardona back-heel
The attacking onslaught finally brought it's rewards with 52 minutes gone, in what was undoubtedly the moment of the match. Olga, who replaced Jessica in the second half, sent a driven pass into the box from the left and Cardona, pulled off a sublime back-heel to turn the ball into the back of the net and make it 0-1. With the score now in their favour, the madridistas controlled the pace of the game before adding to their lead seven minutes from the end. Olga was the provider once more, this time with a ball in behind for Jakobsson, who beat Sullastres in the one-on-one.
