- 2 Division B Group I
- Matchday 4
Santiago Solari's men used the space superbly throughout against what was daring opposition. The direct nature of the Whites' play caused real problems, creating chances galore, and the attack-minded approach didn't take long to reap its reward: with just 7 minutes on the clock, López linked up with Cristo in the area and the Canary Islands-born ace wriggled away from two defenders and shot past Carlos Molina.
Unionistas did their best to respond and Góngora tested Moha on 11’ with a strong free-kick. Castilla were able to maintain their intensity though and their goal-scoring prowess was on display once again before the break. With 34 on the clock, Fidalgo stole the ball in midfield and Cristo quickly netted his second of the game, receiving the ball from Martín to shoot across goal from outside the box. It was then Vinicius Jr's turn to get in on the action, when he rounded off a great first-half performance by guiding a free-kick from the edge of the box under the wall and into the back of the net for his third of the season.
Second half chances
The academy side had chances to increase the deficit after the break. Alberto, came close on 47’, but was unable to beat the Salmanca stopper when put through one-on-one. Later, in the best move of the game, Vinicius Jr., saw his effort crash back off the bar after he had showed pace and power to get away from three defenders and had Carlos Molina beaten. The pace of the game slowed as the clock ticked on, but Solari's men picked up another three points in Group I of Segunda División B.
