Karim Benzema smashed a brace in the win over Girona, meaning he has now managed two or more goals in 25 games in the competition. The forward continues to add to his historic figures in LaLiga, where he is the club's eventh-highest scorer with 129.

Benzema's first madridista brace in LaLiga came in the 3-0 win over Tenerife in September 2009. Since then, his numbers per season are as follows: 2009/10 (2), 2010/11 (4), 2011/12 (6), 2013/14 (3), 2014/15 (3), 2015/16 (5), 2016/17 (1) and 2017/18 (1). In terms of opposition, Benzema has netted his doubles against 18 different teams, while seven of the following have fallen victim to the Frenchman's goal-scoring prowess on more than one occasion: Granada, Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Deportivo, Athletic, Racing and Getafe.
