Courtois is one of eight nominees for the 2025 Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award. Last season, the Real Madrid goalkeeper won the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, keeping a clean sheet in both finals. Courtois, who previously scooped the award in 2018, is shortlisted alongside Alisson (Liverpool), Donnarumma (Manchester City), Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa), Neuer (Bayern Munich), Raya (Arsenal), Sommer (Inter) and Szcesny (Barcelona).

The winner, who will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony on a date yet to be announced, will be chosen by an international jury composed of the current coaches of the men's national teams (one per team), the current captains of the men's national teams (one per team), a specialist journalist representing each team's territory, and fans from around the world registered on FIFA.com. Voting to determine the winner will close on 28 November.

The nominees have been selected by a panel of FIFA experts for their achievements during the period from 11 August 2024 to 2 August 2025, both dates inclusive. The awards are based on sporting performance and overall conduct on and off the pitch.
