Laso: “We have to learn from this game ahead of Friday's clash”

“We have to come back and go all out to win”, added Carroll.
Pablo Laso and Jaycee Carroll spoke to the press following the first game of the Endesa League final. The coach said: “It wasn't our best performance in many ways. We seemed to struggle to string together solid offensive and defensive spells at once. We were a bit up and down all game and we found it tough to keep our solidity”.

“And despite all that, we were up in the closing stages. Our shooting percentages weren't great, that's crucial at that stage, and we missed a lot of chances. We have to improve certain attacking elements to make sure our percentages increase: we did good things defensively and this has only just begun. We have to learn from this game ahead of Friday's clash”.

“The team fought hard, I can't complain in that regard. I don't feel like they weren't switched on, either. We worked well but I think there are things we have to improve, more so in a final. It wasn't our best game of basketball despite the fact we had the fans driving us on”.

Laso: “The fans drove us on”.

“I wish we were 1-0 up rather than down. But a series like this gives you the chance to play better in the next game. We knew it would be a tough tie. Baskonia are here for a reason. My only obsession is making sure we're better prepared for Friday”.

“The team are down about this game. My players can take responsibility for having lost a game at home, with an advantage in the closing stages. Certain decisions marked the outcome of the game at the end and that's the way it is. As I said, my obsession is playing basketball. Baskonia played well but we have to be better. If my players understand that, I'll be relaxed”.

Carroll: “We'll make some adjustments”
“We have to look at how we can improve on today's game. I'm sure Laso will have things to show us tomorrow. We didn't move the ball well in offense, and although we did things well at the back, we made mistakes too. We'll make some adjustments ahead of Friday's game”.

“I don't think Baskonia showed more intensity. We have to come from behind and we'll fly out the blocks on Friday to win it. We'll never give in and we'll fight to the final second. We were ahead in the closing stages and we needed to be a bit smarter. It wasn't to be and now we've got to come back”.
