Carvajal: “It's disappointing but we've got to stick together more than ever”

“We had chances, we could’ve drawn level but it wasn’t to be”, said the full-back.
Dani Carvajal spoke to the press following the clash between Real Madrid and Leganés: “It’s disappointing. After getting the win at Butarque, to go out on home turf is disappointing. Leganés played to their strengths well and were very effective, so we don’t deserve to be in the semi-finals because we weren’t able to beat them. It’s a difficult situation: out of the Copa del Rey and some way off in LaLiga, so we’ve got to stick together more than ever, work harder than ever, and go all out for the Champions League”.

“I’ve been at this club for many years and I know the expectations carried by the badge. We know what the fans demand of us and so we have to work hard to turn the jeers into applause. We shouldn’t be looking to place the blame. We’re all in the same boat and we’re all responsible. Myself first and foremost. We have to come together as a team more than ever and keep working hard”.

"Leganés played to their strengths, they were solid and took advantage of our mistake and a set piece to score two goals. We had chances, we could have drawn level but it wasn’t to be. Leganés scored more goals than us and we have to congratulate them".

Fight back
"The team tried to win the game during the ninety minutes but were unable to. It was late and we couldn’t find a way through. We’ve got to now look at the Valencia match and try to get back to winning ways then look at the only competition that we can win which is the Champions League. In LaLiga we’ll try to win as many games as possible and we’ll keep fighting, but it’s difficult. The only competition we’re really alive in is the Champions League".
