He's the madridista who has claimed the highest number of three-or-more goal hauls in the European Cup.His hat-trick against Bayern at the Santiago Bernabéu saw Cristiano Ronaldo bring the number of times he has notched three or more goals for Real Madrid in a Champions League fixture to six. His latest treble sees him become the madridista to have achieved this feat on the highest number of occasions in the history of Europe's elite club compeition, followed by Di Stéfano and Puskas, who both managed to do so a total of five times.
The Portuguese striker has hit trebles on five occasions and has one four-goal haul to his name. His first Champions League hat-trick for the Whites came back in November 2012, against Ajax. Almost a year later, he repeated the trick against Galatasaray in September 2013.
Four-goal haul against Malmö
His next 3 three-or-four-goal perforamnces all came last term, which proved to be his most prolific in this regard. The first of these came when he claimed the matchball in September 2015 against Shakhtar Donetsk. Three months later, he managed his first four-goal haul as a Real Madrid player in Europe's leading club competition, with Malmö the victims of his goalscoring exploits. In April, interestingly enough against German opposition at the Bernabéu and also at the quarter-final stage, he brought the number of games in which he has struck three or more times to five in a memorable display against Wolfsburg.
