We won our first European Basketball Cup 60 years ago
Real Madrid defeated Spartak Brno in the second leg of the final on 10 May 1964 (84-64).
Real Madrid won the first of its 11 European Basketball Cups in 1964. On that day, the legend of the most successful team in the competition began thanks to a great comeback in the final over two legs against Spartak Brno. The team coached by Joaquín Hernández, who had lost the first leg 110-99, made up the lost ground in the second leg and celebrated the title with their fans.
The madridistas, who were 11 points down going into the deciding game, were far superior to their opponents. After an even first half (37-33), our team made up the difference in the second half to end up winning by a resounding 84-64. Emiliano and Luyk were the most outstanding players in the final.
