Goals from Valverde and Joselu in the second half completed the comeback against Real Sociedad and secured Real Madrid's fifth consecutive win in LaLiga.
Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad to keep up their winning start to the LaLiga season. That's five wins out of five for the leaders, who came from behind again at the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Sociedad took the lead through Barrenetxea with the first half ending at 0-1 despite numerous chances for our team. It all changed after the break. A thunderous shot from Valverde restored parity immediately after coming out after the break and Joselu sealed the three points for Ancelotti's side when he headed the ball home in the 60th minute. Fran García provided the assist for both and came off to a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 74th minute.
It was a tough match from the start as Barrenetxea put the visitors ahead after just five minutes. Madrid went in search of an equaliser immediately after conceding but Rodrygo's left-footed shot was turned away by Remiro. Ten minutes later, a double chance. Carvajal regained possession when the opposition were playing out of defence and, after beating two opponents, played the ball back to Joselu, whose first-time effort came back off the crossbar. The rebound fell back to Madrid's number 2, who swung in a cross to the far post and Rodrygo's acrobatic attempt failed to find the back of the net.
This was the best period for Ancelotti's men, who continued to cause problems. Joselu collected the ball on the edge of the area and his fierce strike was parried by Remiro in the 17th minute. Seconds later, Bellingham delivered a measured cross in behind the visitors' defence and Carvajal's shot was again met by an impressive Remiro. There was still more to come in the opening 45 minutes. Rodrygo had another chance in the 28th minute with a sharp left-footed shot that again forced the keeper into action. Kepa was also in fine form as he pulled off two great saves in quick succession. The first one, on 29', from a Kubo shot inside the area and the second, on the half hour mark, from a Merino header from just a few metres out.
Big second half
Real Madrid levelled the score straight from the restart. Valverde rounded off a great team move with a stunning drive, which clipped the post on its way in. Ancelotti's men were on the rampage, hungry for the goal that would put them ahead, and it came in the 60th minute. Fran García provided the assist, as he did for the first goal, and Joselu made no mistake with his header. Our team had little to worry about from then until the end and could even have increased their lead in the 85th minute when Valverde's shot struck a defender and skimmed the post, and Bellingham's header in stoppage time was kept out by Remiro, showing his reflexes to keep the ball out.
