59 years since club's sixth European Cup
On 11 May 1966, Real Madrid overcame Partizan 2-1 courtesy of goals from Amancio and Serena.

The Heysel Stadium (Brussels) was the scene of Real Madrid’s sixth European Cup 59 years ago today. The Whites enhanced their legendary status with a spectacular victory in the final against Partizan. However, to claim the trophy, Miguel Muñoz’s men had to recover from Vasovic's early goal, and they did so with two stunning goals by Amancio and Serena.
The first was a masterpiece from the Galician legend, who beat his marker and fired a low shot past the keeper. The second was from Serena with a long-range strike on the half-volley. Real Madrid turned the game around in six minutes and lifted the trophy six years after their previous title triumph.
Unbeaten at home
On the road to the final, the Whites won all their matches at the Bernabéu, with Feyenoord, Kilmarnock and Anderlecht as their opponents in the first rounds. In the semi-final, they eliminated Inter Milan, winners of the two previous editions.
