Laprovittola: "We started very well but now we have another difficult match against Burgos"

NEWS | 19/06/2020 | Rodrigo Salamanca

"We have talent and quality in the squad to go into a tournament that demands a lot from us", said the Argentine.
Nicolás Laprovittola, one of the standout players in Real Madrid's opening match in the final phase of the Endesa League, spoke to the media to analyze the victory against Herbalife Gran Canaria and talk about the second match coming up this Saturday against San Pablo Burgos (3:30pm CEST). "When we hosted Burgos at the WiZink Center we came up against a very powerful team. They are a dangerous side and played well against Zaragoza yesterday. It will be another very difficult match. They have players who score a lot and it's something we must not allow. We have the quality and the physicality to dominate these matches".

"This tournament is going to demand a lot from us but we are privileged to have quality and talent in this squad. We started very well yesterday, especially in the first quarter. We were very successful and we took advantage of that. Gran Canaria reacted, but in general we dominated the match. This is basketball and when you gain confidence, as we did yesterday, you have to take advantage of it. I started, then Carroll and then Llull. We began to feel good and we grew in the attack. When the ball doesn't go in, we have to keep an eye on defense. The difference in the competition will be in issolation

The key
"It's strange playing like this , without the support of the fans at La Fonteta. You have to get used to it and concentrate on the game. It's essential that the bench comes into the game as well. What's important is that the team is in tune with each other. In my case, I feel good and confident. Playing for this club is a privilege and I'll try to give it my all.

I came to Madrid to win titles and I know I'm in the right place.

"It was very hard to train from home during the coronavirus interruption. A lot of work has been done on readjusting after the lockdown so that we can compete well. The hard work by the coaching staff has allowed us to come into the tournament in good shape, which will be very demanding because there are so many games in a few days".

Hunger for titles
"I came to Madrid to win titles and I know I'm in the right place. We already proved that in the Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. To keep winning gives us the fuel to play in these competitions. The winning mentality is already at the club when you arrive and it's the first thing you feel. For example, how you compete, train and look after the players".
