"We created a lot of chances after some really good moves", commented the Whites' boss.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane fielded questions from the press in the media room at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium following the win over
Galatasaray: "I'm delighted for the whole team because there's been a lot of criticism, it's not an easy place to come to and we showed good character. It's important to win when you play every three days and tonight we were focused right from the off. We made a really strong start, but they then created two chances. Those things happen. We made a really good start".

"We created a lot of chances after some really good moves and I would have liked to have seen us get a second and even a third because that would have meant that the opposition would have eased off in terms of their pressing. At 1-0 they still believed they could level things up right until the end, but we were focused from the first minute until the last. We worked hard and were strong and that's what got us the win".

Rodrygo and Valverde
"They're part of the squad and I made the decision that Rodrygo would play. He's performing and training well. In a 4-3-3 formation his natural position is as a right winger and we're happy with his performance. Nothing changes with regards to him. Today we've just got to focus on this game. He's a member of the first-team squad and he can play for Castilla also. He did well tonight and I'm pleased with his performance. We'll have to see what happens in the next game".

The players put in massive effort and we deserved the win.

"That's football. We've won a lot of things, but that's in the past. I know where I am and what position I hold. The players responded very well tonight out on the pitch. They put in a lot of effort and we deserved the win".

"He knows he's a captain and he's taking things in his stride. I'm happy for him because we're all in the same boat and everyone has to contribute something to the team. He does it not only by playing but also by giving instructions and helping others when needed".

"In the first half he was important because they had two big chances and he saved us. Today he made two very important saves. He saved us because everything changes if you go behind".

"I don't think he's frustrated. The important thing is to create chances and he usually puts them away. I'm not worried and neither is he. He's going to get better. The important thing was to put in a good team performance".
