NEWS | 02/09/2019The game will be played on Saturday 21, at 9pm, at the WiZink Center.
The Whites, five-time Super Cup winner, will defend the title won last year in Santiago de Compostela against Baskonia 80-73. It will be an unprecedented showdown in this competition and the first time the tournament has been held in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso spoke about the match: “Real Madrid-Fuenlabrada and vice versa are very attractive games, with very good basketball. They are the first games of the season, but we always go into them with the aim of giving our best. The fact that it is in Madrid and at the WiZink, will motivate both teams a little more”.
Pressure playing at home
“I don't know if it works against us or in our favor. All competitions are a big responsibility, a challenge and an opportunity for our team. We know how difficult it is to win titles and we will have to win two games in less than 24 hours, and we must try to go into it in the best possible shape if we want to be champions. We won last year but it's a difficult competition”.
“It’s the first title at stake and it would be absurd to think about not giving our all. When I’ve won it, I’ve celebrated it and we value the players' work very much in these circumstances. It’s easy to say that we are starting. It’s an opportunity to try to take advantage of because we are two games away from winning a title. We will try to compete to the highest level in order to defend our title”.
"I’m happy. We’ve kept a lot of the players who have given a lot to the team and the club. We have a solid base and the youth incorporations are two of the highest level in Nakic and Garuba. We signed the MVP of the competition and Mickey, who had a great Euroleague. The two complement what I have”.
