The Whites full-back was the key focus on the programme ‘Campo de estrellas’, on Realmadrid TV."In the beginning it was far from easy, I finished school at 5 in the evening, had a snack and came home at 10 o'clock at night. I would eat breakfast and dinner in the car. I came and had to do homework and it was a challenging year. In the end the school schedule changed and I go used to it. My father sacrificed everything to get me to Valdebebas”.
Under-19s
"I have always been a slow developer, around two years slower than average. That changed me a lot and I tried to make up for it with desire, effort and hard work. In the Under-19s I got more game time, I had a good season and joined Real Madrid, signing for three years".
Pre-season in the United States
"My agent told me that Lopetegui needed me for the preseason. I decided to prepare myself as if it were the World Cup. I was training for a good a month beforehand on my own to go in as best I could. And it went well. Training each day with that team that, a team that won three Champions League titles in a row is no joke. They are a history making team, the biggest in the world.
I have realised my dream: play in the Real Madrid first team.
"After winning the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy I was told I'd stay in the first team. It was a shocking moment because until you get told it, you simply do not believe it will happen. My parents know the price we paid to get here and it was a kind of reward for them. I made my debut in the Champions League against CSKA in Russia. I was really looking forward to showing that what I did on tour was no fluke."
Bernabéu debut
"I made my debut in the Valladolid game and I remember it was a gruelling game. In the end Vinicius and Sergio scored and we got a result. The Bernabéu fans are like no others. They are the best fans because they ask so much. And when you see the fans cheer you, sing for you and stand up, it's brilliant."
Zidane
"When he arrived at the club, he spoke to me and told me he knew what I had done for the club. When the team needed me I stepped up from the youth team and he valued that very much and that made me feel calm. When Zidane tells you that on his second day it is a real relief. I finshed the season feeling assured, knowing that I gave everything for the club".
