Özil averages 20 or more assists per season in Real Madrid

Özil finished his third season in Real Madrid once again demonstrating his skill at giving the last pass. The German player gave 20 assists this season, which means he has reached at least twenty in each of his seasons with the Whites. Recognised as one of the best passers from the continent, this season he has completed his contribution in offence with 10 goals scored across all the competitions.

Since his first year with Real Madrid, Özil won over the fans with his elegance and his vision of play over the final metres. His 25 assists served as an excellent letter of introduction, a skill he confirmed the following year with 24. He once again demonstrated his consistency in this facet of play in the season just completed with 20 assists. This season, his best pairing has been with Cristiano Ronaldo, who he assisted on nine occasions. The Portuguese striker is followed by Varane, Ramos and Benzema, with Özil giving each of them two passes that led to goal.
