Real Madrid began their Liga F campaign with a win against Valencia at the Alfredo Di Stéfano courtesy of goals from Teresa and Nahikari. Toril‘s charges picked up their first three points of the season on what was matchday two of the competition, after matchday one was postponed.
In the game’s opening exchanges, the madridistas created several chances as they looked to press high up the pitch against Valencia. The hosts almost took the lead when Toletti’s long-range strike brought a save out of the opposition goalkeeper in the 25th minute and ten minutes later Møller’s headed effort narrow missed the crossbar. After the restart, Real Madrid remained solid at the back to keep Valencia at bay. The madridistas carved out more chances, including a goal by Athenea that was ruled out for offside, the second goal did not come until the 90th minute when Nahikari made it 2-0 when she slotted the ball home when one-on-one with the goalie.
