NEWS | 15/05/2021 | Bárbara Jiménez"After everything we've been through, we've just kept on working and been focused on the fact that we could win things come the end of the season", commented the coach.
“I’m proud of them every season because they always battle and compete. They enjoy playing and training and that has certainly been the case this year because we’ve had so many difficulties, what with the injuries and some strange things. I’m delighted with what they’re doing. The players always want to compete. This is a side that has kept on working and has tried to do things properly and that’s why I’m perhaps prouder this year than every before. I’m delighted with how they’re doing”.
"We'll be looking to make a strong start and compete throughout the 90 minutes, just like we did the other night. We have to worry about the things we can control, which is our game tomorrow. We can't control anything else. We want to get the three points. We're up against a very good side who are performing really well as a team and we'll be giving our all".
Nineteenth anniversary of goal in Glasgow
“I’ve been here for nearly 20 years now. What I can say is that I’m grateful to this great club for having signed me because it’s been a really good journey for me”.
“When I talk about energy, I’m talking about how we set up out of possession and what we do to counter the opposition’s strengths. Given that we’ve got some quality players, when you do that properly, the important thing is the chemistry between the players and there’s great chemistry between them. There are a lot of strengths here”.
Relationship with the dressing room
"There has always been complete mutual respect. As I was a player myself, for me the players are the most important thing. They have to feel comfortable in the working environment if they're to perform".
"We want to do good things and we know that this is the best club in the world. Every one of us contributes something to this club and that can never be taken away".
"He'll be with us. He's not feeling any discomfort and will be with us".
Players being upset at lack of minutes
“You’re always going to get that and I completely understand it because the players want to play. I have respect for all of them because they’re the ones who battle and work, but I’ve got to manage 25 players. All of them are useful to me and know that they’ll play their part in the season and they’ve all contributed. I’m the one who makes the decisions, that’s my job and it’s a tough one for a coach”.
Strength, desire and hopes
“Life excites me every day because I don’t know what’s going to happen in three years’ time and I just enjoy the moment. It excites me to watch them train, I enjoy the day-to-day work. I’m lucky and make the most of every moment. I’m here now, we’ve got a game tomorrow and then we’ll just have one more left. We don’t know what’ll happen after that and anything can happen because this is Real Madrid. I’m not looking any further than one day at a time, I don’t look to the past or the future, I just focus on the present”.
“When you look at the other times I’ve left, people perhaps think that I leave because I don’t want the responsibility or things have become tough. I always put my all into with everything I do and there comes a time when you have to change, but not just for me, for everyone, for the good of the players and the club. I don’t leave because it’s easy to do so, but because that’s what it’s like at certain times”.
Last two games
“We head into the last two games in very good shape after having won on Thursday night. We put in a really good performance in both attacking and defensive terms and that makes me think that we’re ready for the last two matches. We’ll be giving our all and go all out, I’ve got no doubt about that and that’s why I’m so proud of my players. Our destiny isn’t completely in our hands, but we know that we’ve got a chance. We’re going to give our all in these last two games”.
