"We've got a crest to defend and we've always got to stand up and be counted, regardless of whether we win or lose", explained the centre, who posted a PIR of 43 against Zaragoza.
Walter Tavares was the team's leading light in Real Madrid's win over Casademont Zaragoza in the final match of the league's Final Phase. The Cape Verde-born center set a personal PIR record in a madridista jersey after posting a score of 43, thanks to his 22 points (6/6 on two-pointers and 10/13 on free throws), 14 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and 7 fouls received in his 32:50 minutes on court.

"It was a different sort of tournament compared to what we're used it. We were going to be playing a game once every two days. We tried but it didn't come off and we've now got to look forward. We've got a crest to defend and we've always got to stand up and be counted, regardless of whether we win or not, and do the best we can. The team has had a great season and we've won two trophies. Before the hiatus, we were feeling really confident and after this, we've had to adapt but it hasn't worked out for us".
