The deputy mayoress Begoña Villacís presented Butragueño with a commemorative plaque at the ceremony presided over by the mayor, Martínez- Almeida.Real Madrid's director of institutional realtions, Emilio Butragueño, has been named honorary patron of the municipal Voluntarios por Madrid (Madrid Volunteers) organisation, which is now into its 20th year. The naming ceremony, which took place during an event to mark International Volunteer Day, was held at the Palacio de Cibeles, which is home to the City Council.
"I admire those who volunteer their time to help the most needy", declared

Voluntarios por Madrid, which boasts over 15,000 members, has been working with the Real Madrid Foundation since the creation of the Oficina del Voluntario Madridista (Madridista Volunteers' Office) and has particularly assisted in the staging of the Corazón Classic Match charity match and the comprehensive programme at El Gallinero.
