The event on Archives, Documentation and Sport brought together the Community of Madrid's leading experts in the field.Guadalupe Galindo, the director of Real Madrid's Historic Heritage Centre, which is run by the Real Madrid Foundation, took part in the Community of Madrid's Archives, Documentation and Sports Day, organised by the Universidad Complutense's Faculty of Documentation Sciences.
The session brought together representatives of the public archives, such as Madrid's Archive of the Villa, the Community of Madrid's Regional Archive, the General Archive of the Administration and the Universidad Complutense's Archive, as well as the ABC Archive and MARCA's documental section.
Closing presentation
The event was opened with a talk given by Fina Solà, the president of ICA/SPO Section on Sports Archives, International Council on Archives, entitled Deporte y Archivo, una relación simbiótica, (Sport and Archives, a symbiotic relationship) and was rounded off with a presentation delivered by Galindo about Real Madrid C. F.'s Historic Heritage Centre.
Conserving and documenting the club's history
Located within Real Madrid City and boasting storage space both within and away from Valdebebas, the Historic Heritage Centre receives, classifies, stocks, catalogues and digitalises the items and documents related to the running of the club on an administrative and sporting level, which is donated and temporarily loaned by scholars, scientists, academics, writers, journalists or madridista supporters.
The centre carries out a key job not only in conserving and documenting the club's history but also in attending to the requests received from publications and journalists from across the world. The centre manages what is a huge legacy for future generations. Since its opening, over 257,000 items and documents have been catalogued.
