The company's board members met with the beneficiaries of this school in Brazil.The pupils at the Real Madrid Foundation socio-sporting school in Niteroi (Deporte por la Paz - Sport for Peace) received a visit from the members of the board of directors at Mapfre Brazil, who took along afternoon snacks to mark the Easter celebrations as the company representatives took part in a fun, socio-educative activity, whilst also displaying their support for the beneficiaries.
This particular socio-sporting school currently has over 200 participants, aged between nine and 17, who receive coaching in football and life values at the Centro Juvenil Oratorio Mamá Margarita thanks to the support of the Mapfre Foundation and the collaboration of the Real Madrid Foundation and the Misiones Salesianas. This is a wide-ranging project that sees the participants take part in sports and other activities laid on by the Centro Juvenil Salesiano. Amongst these activities are reading and writing workshops, job advice, workshops on making improvements to lifestyle habits for a healthier life, hygiene, nutrition, recreational and cultural activities, the promotion of childhood rights and the tightening of family bonds.
Sport as a tool
Sport stands as one of the most powerful tools to prevent the development of addictive behaviour and represents a strong means of protection, particularly amongst the children and youngsters from vulnerable neighbourhoods (favelas) by offering them the means to rediscover themselves, their skills and abilities.
