The forward put in a fine performance against Venezuela with two decisive goals, the first of which was absolutely spectacular.
Rodrygo was the star turn in the clash between Brazil and Venezuela in the second round of the South American U-20 Championship. A brace from the madridista forward, currently playing at Santos, saw his side get the better of the Venezuelans and helped the canarinha cut the gap on the Group A leaders. Rodrygo opened the scoring with a wonderful strike after 41 minutes, before clinching the points when he finished off a counter-attack with 81 on the clock.

It was a lively clash between the two group favourites. The early stages were dominated by Brazil and the superiority eventually translated into a first goal for Rodrygo. He received a ball in behind, took it into his stride and produced a sublime finish to beat the opposition goalkeeper and make it 1-0. It was a more evenly-matched affair following the break, but Rodrygo was again the key man, striking the decisive goal to make it 2-0 after 81 minutes and send him to the top of the tournament's goal-scoring charts. Venezuela pinched one back from a direct free-kick in the 90th minute but the game finished 2-1.
