Zidane: "We put in a good performance, scoring three goals is always an achievement"

"On Monday we'll find out which opponents we face, but we know that it'll be a tough team", stated the Whites' coach.
Zinedine Zidane took to the media room at the Santiago Bernabéu to reflect on Real Madrid's victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final round of Champions League group-stage fixtures: "We got off to a very good start, scoring twice in the opening few minutes. We then had a tough spell following the injury to Varane. The final half an hour of the second period was very good, with Lucas playing in his position and Ceballos doing well out there. We put in a good performance. Scoring three goals is always an achievement".

"I imagine that we'll be in a very strong position in February, when the last-16 games come around. We've now got some good days ahead of us and I'm sure that after the holidays and the break in action, we'll be in good shape. On Monday we'll find out which opponents we face, but we know that it'll be a tough team. I don't care who we get".

Varane and Vallejo
"He's hurt himself and tomorrow he'll go for a scan. He has said that it's nothing major, but we'll have to wait and see. He won't be fit for Saturday, that's for sure. As for Vallejo, we'll have to see how he gets on. It's nothing serious but we'll have to take a look at him. We'll find the solution to put a team together for Saturday. Llorente has played in that position in the past and it's a role he knows well. We'll wait and see".

Injuries ahead of Sevilla game
"I'm  not worried. I have to find a way of solving the issues and put out a competitive side that's capable of turning in a good display. I feel sorry for the injured players, like Varane tonight, but we've got a squad here and we'll look for the solution within the group".

Keylor Navas
"I've got two goalkeepers and I'll always repeat myself on this one: I'm the Real Madrid coach and I'm happy with my two goalkeepers. We can all do a bit more, of course, that's always the case, but I thought that Keylor did well".

"I feel sorry for the injured players, like Varane tonight, but we've got a squad here and we'll look for the solution within the group".

"We’re a long way off getting our hands on another Champions League. There’s a long way to go. Now we’ve qualified for the last 16, which was the most important thing. We’ve picked up a win to close out the group stage and there are still an awful lot of games to come before the next round. We’ve got LaLiga, the Club World Cup and then we’ll turn our attentions back to the Champions League".

"I’m pleased with his performance, he did a good job. It’s not easy to come on like that, and he played very well alongside Llorente. He’s ready to help the team, and all I can ask of my players is that they’re ready when called upon".

January transfer window
"There is the potential to sign players, we may do so. The window opens on the 1st of January and runs until the 31st. We’ll see what happens, but nothing much has happened in recent times. We’ve got the possibility, just like every year, and we’ll assess the situation".

Potential last-16 meeting with PSG
"I’m not thinking about the draw because we’ve got a game coming up on Saturday in LaLiga. PSG have done great things so far, playing well and winning games. They look incredible at times, but I’m not going to discuss the draw because I’d like to enjoy tonight’s win and we’ve not got long to recover before the next game".
