The son of Paco Llorente, grandnephew of Paco Gento and grandson of Ramón Moreno Grosso, Marcos Llorente comes from one of Real Madrid's most distinguished families. An exemplary journey through Real Madrid's youth academy, having joined in the 2008/09 season. He progressed through the youth ranks from Under-14s until excelling with Castilla in Segunda División B before going on to make his debut at the Bernabéu in October 2015 in the win over Levante.

An impressive 2016/17 season in the Alavés midfield saw him progress to the Real Madrid first team in the summer of 2017. His arrival came at the same time as a fantastic season that saw the club win four titles: the European and Spanish Super Cups, the Club World Cup and the 13th European Cup win over Liverpool in Kiev.

He played his most minutes for the club in his final season and was instrumental in the 2018 Club World Cup victory, being named MVP in the final against Al-Ain, where Marcos Llorente started the match and scored a superb goal from outside the area.
