Special: The second Youth League!
SPECIAL.

On April 20, 2026, Real Madrid's Juvenil A team once again became European champions by winning the UEFA Youth League for the second time in its history. The team, led by Álvaro López, claimed the title, just as they had in 2020, after a brilliant tournament and defeating Club Brugge in a penalty shootout during the final held at Stade de la Tuilière in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Our team took the lead through Jacobo in a first half they dominated with authority, but Club Brugge equalized in the second half, and the champion was decided from the penalty spot. The shootout highlighted the heroics of Javi Navarro, who made two decisive saves to secure another European success for Juvenil A.

An outstanding group stage
Our team delivered a stellar group stage performance, finishing in fourth position. They won six of the seven matches played, defeating opponents like Marseille, Kairat Almaty, Juventus, Liverpool, and Olympiacos. The only loss of the tournament came on the final matchday, with the team already qualified for the knockout rounds.

Ticket to Lausanne
In the knockout stage, Juvenil A turned the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium into a fortress. In the round of 16, they defeated Marseille (5-2), in the round of 16 overcame Chelsea (1-0) thanks to a goal by Yáñez, and in the quarter-finals, they secured a spot in the semi-finals after a comeback against Sporting Portugal with goals from Jacobo and Roberto Martín (2-1).

A historic Final Four
Once in Lausanne, the semi-final opponent was PSG. The French team took the lead in the first half, but the reserve team showed their competitive spirit once again. Liberto equalized the match in the 83rd minute, and the spot in the final was decided in the penalty shootout. There, Javi Navarro stood out, saving three attempts and becoming the hero of the final qualification.

In the title match, with Florentino Pérez supporting the team in Switzerland and the academy teams following the final, Real Madrid dominated the first half and took the lead with a spectacular backheel goal by Jacobo. Club Brugge equalized in the second half through Jensen, sending the match into extra time and eventually penalties. Once again, Javi Navarro was decisive with two saves that secured the title victory. “We fought until the end; it’s what this badge demands of us,” said Álvaro López after the triumph.

The celebration with madridismo
After celebrating the title in Lausanne
, the team returned to Madrid to share the joy with the fans. The next day, Florentino Pérez welcomed Juvenil A to the Bernabéu, before the match against Alavés. Before the game, players and coaching staff presented the Youth League trophy to the madridismo, putting the finishing touch on an unforgettable season for our reserve team, during which they also won the League.
