During his four-year spell at Real Madrid, Di María proved to be a highly tricky and versatile player who expressed himself freely on the pitch. He joined the club from Benfica, where he played as a winger or second striker, and he was deployed in an attacking role for Madrid.

The Argentinian was a specialist at the rabona kick and he was named Man of the Match in the final against Atletico in Lisbon, where the club clinched its tenth European Cup. He will forever be remembered by Madrid fans for his mazing run in extra-time, when he got past three defenders, which led to Bale’s headed goal.

Ángel di María will also be remembered for his assist at Mestalla for Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational header against Barcelona that secured the club’s 18th Copa del Rey trophy. He also scored in the final for Madrid’s 19th Copa del Rey at the same venue and against the same opposition.
