A free-kick by Arribas and a strike from Álvaro Martín in the 90th minute turned the game against Algeciras on its head to ensure an 11th league win for the Whites.

Real Madrid Castilla began 2023 in style with a superb comeback victory. The academy side defeated Algeciras at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games and cement their place in the top spots of the league table.  The visitors took the lead in the 3rd minute, but Arribas equalised with a free-kick on the hour mark. A goal by Álvaro Martín in the 90th minute handed Raúl’s men their 11th win of the campaign.

Things turned ugly for the madridistas early on in the clash when the Andalusian outfit opened the scoring in the first few minutes as Roni’s deflected effort found its way into the goal. Raúl’s men soon responded, with Nico Paz heading over the crossbar after a pinpoint cross from Obrador. Castilla then went close to equalising when Álvaro Martín fired a left-footed strike that narrowly missed the target, before the visitors carved out the best chance of the half on the half-hour mark. De Luis did well to thwart David Martín, but the rebound fell kindly to the opposition who struck the post on the follow-up.

Álvaro Martín and Arribas inspire Madrid to comeback
After the restart, Castilla went in search of an equaliser and in the 47th minute, Obrador almost got one but his powerful drive from distance was off target. Raúl’s men took the game to Algeciras and got their reward with 60 minutes on the clock. Arribas made it 1-1 when he fired in a free-kick giving Tristán no chance. The visitors almost retook the lead straight away when Roni went close. The madridistas pushed for the winning goal and almost found a way past the visiting goalkeeper through a free-kick from Aranda (85’). But the Whites refused to give up and were rewarded five minutes later, as Álvaro Martín scored from inside the six-yard box, latching on to Aranda’s rebound. Castilla sealed a fine comeback win to cement their place towards the top of the Primera Federación.
