Zidane: "We dominated and deserved a lot more"

"That's now five wins and a draw and we must remember that there’s still a long way to go", commented the boss.
Zinedine Zidane offered his thoughts in an online press conference in the aftermath of the game against Real Sociedad. The Whites’ boss reflected on the match in the following terms: “We deserved a lot more, particularly when you look at the chances we created. We didn't put them away, especially in the first half and that could have changed the complexion of the game. They had one chance and scored. That's the way things go in football. We've had games where we won when we perhaps didn't deserve to. This doesn’t change anything. I think the we’re in good shape, that's now five wins and a draw and we must remember that there’s still a long way to go”.

“All of the teams drop points over the course of the season. We know that we have to keep putting points on the board. We've also dropped points and will be trying to keep picking up the points. It's the last time I'll say it, but there's still a long way to go”.

Best performance in recent weeks?
“I don't know if it was our best performance because you always say that it's better when you win. We certainly put in a good performance tonight, I don't know if it was our best performance as we've dropped two points. I'm annoyed given the effort that the players have put in, but we can be happy with how we’re performing. We've got to keep going, there's a long way to go. We were really dominant tonight".

It's two points dropped because we were at home, but I'm happy with how we performed.

“We took Luka off so we could get Fede on. We changed to three centre-backs because I didn’t like how we started in terms of pressure. I think we dominated the game. We had three or four good chances in the first half but unfortunately we were unable to take them. We also created good chances in the second half. We’ve dropped two points, as it was a home game, but I’m pleased with the way we played”.

Vini Jr.
“I’m pleased he got the goal. We picked up a point and now we have to move on. It’s the result of his hard work and effort. That’s what we all have to keep doing”.

Benzema to make the derby?
“We hope he can be with us, but we have to wait and see because he still hasn’t trained with the team. We’ll assess the situation tomorrow. He’s OK.  Karim’s injury is much better and we’ll take a look at him”.
