“The result is not the most important thing, we gave a good account of ourselves”, said the coach.
Zinedine Zidane faced the media following Real Madrid's first pre-season friendly which finished all square against Manchester United: “It was a complete performance and the young guys did very well in the second half. I'm satisfied, the result isn't the most important thing, we gave a good account of ourselves. We finished well and we didn't pick up any knocks. We competed well against a team with more games under their belt. Now we've got another match and I hope we can start finding our rhythm as quickly as possible”.

“The crucial thing for us was to start playing and competing. We're preparing for the 8th of August, the European Super Cup, that's our objective. That will be our first official game and we want to be in the best shape we can for then to try and win it”.

Has he asked for a number 9'?
“No, and you know it. I'm not going to ask for anything. I speak to the president, we're working together. As I said, there are 28 players in the squad. We're working and I'm not thinking about anything else. Anything can happen before the 31st of August. That's why it's best to clarify. There's a headline and then there's what I say. In the end, I'm not asking for anything, it'd be best if you could put that”.

We're preparing for the European Super Cup, that's our objective.

“At the moment, we've got a full squad here and we'll continue as we are. Until the 31st of August we don't know what might happen. Someone could go, somebody might come in. I'm happy and pleased with what we've got and I'm only focussed on working for this team”.

“I think he's nearly ready. I hope he'll be back with the team training normally on Monday or Tuesday. He's stayed there because it was better for him not to travel with his ear problems. He's getting better”.

Match with the MLS All-Stars
“I'm sure it'll be a great game. Kaká was a big player for Real Madrid and it'll be nice to see him again. The most important thing for us will be to put in another good performance and improve from a physical point of view. I hope it's a good match for all the fans”.
