The fans packed out the stadium to enjoy the Duodécima celebrations alongside the players. The event, presented by Miki Nadal, saw 8 giant screens laid out on the pitch around a central dodecagon. There were 12 sides, like the hours of a clock, and just the same amount of times that Real Madrid have now won Europe's elite competition.
‘Making history’
The celebration began with the stadium cast into darkness. Images recalling the year and the cities of the previous 11 European Cups then flashed on to the enormous screens. Zidane was the first member of the squad to be presented and he took to the field to a spectacular exhibition of lights, sound and fire.
THE SQUAD AND THE COACHING STAFF WERE WELCOMBED BY A SPECTACULAR LIGHTS AND SOUND SHOW.
The Frenchman was followed by his coaching staff, before the rest of the squad took to the field: Yáñez, Danilo, Isco, Morata, Marco Asensio, Modric, Mariano, Lucas Vázquez, Kovacic, Casemiro, Casilla, Bale, James, Benzema, Kroos, Nacho, Varane, Pepe, Carvajal and Keylor Navas.
The titles
The last three players to be announced were Cristiano Ronaldo; Marcelo, who came out with the LaLiga trophy; and Sergio Ramos, who appeared holding La Duodécima. The squad then hoisted the cup into the Madrid night's sky as fireworks accompanied by the famous "We are the Champions" contributed to a pulsating atmosphere.
Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo took the microphone to thank the fans for their support with some words from the centre of the pitch. Zidane also had some words for those present. “It's been a spectacular year thanks to you”, he said before being tossed in the air by the players. The event was finished off with a wonderful family photo.
